A BOY

Well my nephew, born in the wee small hours of this morning, USA central time is. Congratulations to my gorgeous sister, her husband and daughter. It was very exciting to be receiving updates from my mother and youngest sister on my blackberry from the time she reached transition until Peter was blissfully enjoying his first drink of breastmilk.

Our darling's secret is safe for another few months, but I really miss knitting longies so I have decided to make several different pair of whatever takes my fancy. I can either gift or sell those that we decide we will not need.

I love the colourway, but am not happy with the pooling both on the body and leg of the longies. I recently made a hat from the same wool that came out in beautiful stripes.

The ruffled cuff is from my Field Guide To Knitting stitch dictionary.

Happy Birthday to my darling Charlotte back in Australia, and in the USA my sweet little nephew Peter and Happy Birthing Day to my wish come true, Rhianon.

Small knits for a small person

*~ OUR SMALL PERSON ~*

We are thrilled to bits with the news that we will be welcoming baby number 3 later this year. As soon as my stomach started churning and I gained my superpower sense of smell I decided to cast on these yummys knit in BFL in a colourway that I am calling Very Hungry Caterpillar. Though it looks more blue than green in my photo.

So we have some newborn sized longies in the Baa Bum pattern that my gorgeous friend and owner of the Small Things blog created. My go to infant hat, Umbilical Cord from Stitch n Bitch and a teeny tiny pair of Simply Sweet Socks.

Blessing the Way

Last week I was part of a beautiful blessingway for a friend who is expecting to birth her little one any week now. It was a wonderful morning of feminine energy with poetry, belly art, blessingway necklace and of course good food.

The big brother to be made a beautiful contribution to Mum's belly art.

One of the most beautiful blessingway necklaces I have seen.

Our bracelets made from some gorgeous Baa Bum dyed wool, which will remain on all attendees wrists until the little one is safely in Mum's arms. Mine has felted up beautifully in the week that I have been wearing it.
A pair of longies to help keep the baby snug in the air con.

What's On My Needles?

I am usually the kind of knitter who is loyal to one article from start to finish without even thinking of anything else until I have sewn in that last thread. Having three projects on the go has never happened to me before, and I have to say I don't mind it.

Pictured we have a pair of newborn longies, a breast (stay tuned for more about that) a pot holder/placemat. Also in the photo is my knitting bag of choice for now- a rice bag. I wish we ate more rice so I could get more of these groovy bags.

A Birthday Celebration

Our gorgeous little friend will shortly turn one but is about to go on six month trip so today was her party.

Her longies and knitted mice. The pattern for the mice was found in a neat book I bought here, How to Knit with Double Pointed and Circular Needles. With the lack of LYS's, Spotlight or even the little haberdashery section at Kmart or Big Dub here my library of knitting books has grown substantially.

All wrapped up (in a tea towel- much more green than paper and I am sure Mum will find useful)

G is great mates with J's brother so wanted to make him some little people. She has made these cute little people cut outs and put them on the walls in each of our bedrooms and wanted to be sure that he would have some too. Coincidentally, he shares the same name as her most special boy in Aus.

Latest WIP

When I download photos there are always a few little surprises to be discovered; shots taken by one of my budding photographers. This one features my knitting bag with Josie's very grape longies peeking out.
