This Is... what I want to be when I grow up

When I was a little girl I wanted so much to be a teacher. That was until my disgruntled year 5 teacher told me that it is a crap job and that I could do whatever I want. Way to sell the profession.

For now I am very happy as a housewife. I love what I do and my only goals outside caring for our family are building my personal interests like knitting, charity knitting and breastfeeding advocacy.

In anything goes land, I would love to be a yoga instructor. For the record I have not been to yoga for a very long time and when I did go I was a total beginner, but I would like to be one all the same.

Thanks to Bugandpop for this week's theme and Handmaiden for being the caretaker of the Meme while Angela is abroad.

  1. What a shame that silly teacher put you off-it is not a crap job at all-hard work, draining but very rewarding too and you get to hang out with kids all day! I teach six year olds and really love it!

  2. ha! some teacher!!
teaching is so undervalued...Yoga instructor would be nice...think of the supple body you'd have but I can understand the 'Mum' role...life changes so much once you have children, well it did for me...there is nothing more important than being their mum!

  3. I was a kindergarten teacher for 8 years and loved every minute of it. Yes, it a whole load of hard work and drains out all your energy but it's so rewarding emotionally - makes you very rich at heart( ..yes the teachers are under values and underpaid - but despite that it's worth the experience )

  4. I also love being a mum. I'm now back at work part time, but nothing beats caring for my baby:)

  5. I'm a teacher and I love it. But I also love being a mum and a housewife.
I'm going back to work in few weeks and I would love to stay home for another year.

  6. Some teacher will put you off, but some will say just the right things. Funny things in life will break or make you. But the most important thing is that you end up doing what you most enjoy. Be happy doing it. Blessings

  7. That's terrible that your teacher said that. It is a hard job and quite energy draining, but really rewarding at the same time!

  8. It's strange when people put you off a dream. My dreams of becoming a hairdresser were quashed by a few people, and I remember feeling devastated by it.

Well, you could always be a Yoga teacher! My very close friend has been training to be one, and she'll be fantastic at it. (She wasn't an expert at all when she started either, you have to start at the beginning)
